On arrival at about midday we joined several members of the Aviation group and also several members of the Institute of the Motor Industry (Norfolk Branch), which Roy West belongs to, as well as members of the Shipdham Airfield group. While my Mother and three others went for a flight up to the North Norfolk Coast and back, taking in the lovely scenery, I joined the others for a BBQ with a burger, sausage and trimmings followed by strawberries and cream.
When the Piper PA-28-161 Warrior II (G-FIZZ) arrived back I joined a member from Kings Lynn and his relation for a flight over Dereham, Langham, Little Snoring and onto Blakeney Point, then turning back inland to Shipdham. Just before landing we did a low pass over the Clubhouse where several members had gathered to watch. A Titan T-51 Mustang (472218 G-MUZY) owned by A.D Bales had arrived and was parked beside a Caterham 7 sports car which had also arrived at the Clubhouse. Later the Titan Mustang did a display before landing again.
Dave Ditton provided a quiz for members, who were also able to see around the museum following the BBQ. We could also have a visit to the hanger, where there was an Auster J/1 Autocrat (G-AIBR), an Aerostar Yakovlev Yak-52 (G-YAKF) waiting to have a new engine, a Pitts S-1S Special (G-CCXK), and a Fokker Triplane amongst others.
Many thanks to Roy West, to the Shipdham Airfield Members and to the pilots, who did five flights for the Aviation group members. The whole day was enjoyed by everyone and the weather stayed mainly fine although a little windy.
